“We lose ourselves in books, we find ourselves there too."

“We all bear scars,… Mine just happen to be more visible than most.”

In a land without magic, an assassin is summoned to the castle. Rescued from the mines of Endovier she has come to be the kings champion. She isn’t here to kill the king, but to win her freedom.

“Sometimes, the wicked will tell us things just to confuse us–to haunt our thoughts long after we’ve faced them.”

If she defeats twenty-three killers, thieves, and warriors in a competition, become the King’s Champion for four years, she can finally earn her freedom. Her name is Lillian but she is otherwise known as Celaena Sardothien. It’s an offer Celaena can’t refuse.

“Names are not important. It’s what lies inside of you that matters.”

The Crown Prince, Dorian will provoke her. The Captain of the Guard, Chaol will protect her. But something evil dwells in the castle of glass—and it’s there to kill.

“You could be great. You could rattle the stars. You could do anything if only you dared.”

When her competitors start dying one by one, Celaena’s fight for freedom becomes a fight for survival, and a desperate quest to root out the evil before it destroys her world.

“With each day he felt the barriers melting. He let them melt. Because of her genuine laugh, because he caught her one afternoon sleeping with her face in the middle of a book, because he knew that she would win.”

This is a fantasy adventure action pack novel. Full of suspense and thrilling moments, which keeps you turning the pages. The romance and the action collide beautifully together. It’s a slow starter but after you start to understand the characters, their lives and their intentions – its an epic battle!

“We each survive in our own way.”

Celaena Sardothien, world’s best assassin, proves everyone that, after all, no matter how hard life beats us down, we must raise our head high up and keep fighting, because we all are beaten down by Life, but not all of us show this the same way. Celaena is depicted originally as a ruthless, cold-hearted killer. But her compassion and her kindness and her passion for multiple things showed from the very first pages of this book. She is a merciless assassin who can end you with a snap of her finger but she has also kept her personality. Her humor, her quirkiness. She loves beautiful dresses, she loves to eat good food, puppies 🐶, and she loves books. I absolutely adore her sass and her attitude. 10/10 here for this.

“Libraries were full of ideas—perhaps the most dangerous and powerful of all weapons.”
