“We lose ourselves in books, we find ourselves there too."

And there we have it – another book series bites the dust!

Bryce Quinlan never expected to see a world other than Midgard, but now that she has, all she wants is to get back. Everything she loves is in Midgard: her family, her friends, her mate. Stranded in a strange new world, she’s going to need all her wits about her to get home again. And that’s no easy feat when she has no idea who to trust.

“I’m sick and tired of people using girl as an insult.”

Hunt Athalar has found himself in some deep holes in his life, but this one might be the deepest of all. After a few brief months with everything he ever wanted, he’s in the Asteri’s dungeons again, stripped of his freedom and without a clue as to Bryce’s fate. He’s desperate to help her, but until he can escape the Asteri’s leash, his hands are quite literally tied.

“I love you. I fell in love with you in the depths of my soul, and it’s my soul that will find yours again in the next life.”

Bryce and Hunt’s world is brought to the brink of collapse-with its future resting on their shoulders.

“The gods know what would happen if all us females were unsupervised. Absolute anarchy. Cities would crumble.”

This book was one hell of an emotional ride. NOW – we meet some familiar faces from the world of ACOTAR. Rhysand, Amren, Cassian, Azriel and Nesta all make appearances and I loved seeing Nesta and Bryce bouncing off each other and Azriel trying to keep the peace. I’m glad the crossover did not take over a big chunk of the book because it IS a Crescent City book. On the other hand, I devoured all of Ruhn and Lidia’s chapters. Lidia’s chapters especially are just chef’s kiss. Ithan’s character arc and story development. Did his rise to power feel a bit random and rushed? Yes. But I didn’t expect it, so I liked that his story wasn’t predictable. I liked that this isn’t something you can see coming.

“The friends they’d made were what mattered in the end. Not the enemies. Through love, all is possible.”

Whilst this book series has bitten the dust, I hope this isn’t the end – for any of our characters.  I hope we revisit the ACOTAR universe and the characters there, I hope we come back to Aelin and Rowan and her court and see how they grow together and how their family expands and finally I need to come back to Bryce and Hunt and all the lives we encountered and how these families become well, a family.
