“We lose ourselves in books, we find ourselves there too."

Have you ever looked back through history and thought ‘what one thing would I change?’ If you haven’t then I encourage you to do so before continuing to read this review…

“We’ve just lost our way, that’s all. But what if you could give us a chance to do better? Just one chance? One single move in the great game of history? What’s your best shot? What would you consider to be the greatest mistake in world history and, more to the point, what single thing would you do to prevent it?”

Thought of one? Good.

How far would you go to change history? Who would you kill? Who would you save?

Well that is exactly what Hugh Stanton, ex-soldier and legendary adventurer has been asked to do. A man who has lost everything will now risk everything because in order to change the future, you must first change the past. He must now travel back in time using a Newtonian method of time travel (yes this is related to Isaac Newton!) and succeed in his mission without drawing attention to himself by dealing with the unpredictability of people, events and fate… (which is much harder than it sounds).

“The classic private bitterness of the public zealot. A man who wanted to take out his own inadequacy on other people.”

Ben Elton has created a wonderful and realistic book. I genuinely couldn’t put this book down and couldn’t wait to see what happened next. The book is clever and thought provoking without humiliating the idea of time travel and has a jaw-dropping ending for you all to look forward too! There is almost a realistic sense in this book as to how historians do view the world.

Highly recommend this book to any of you who love an adventure or just love history!
