“We lose ourselves in books, we find ourselves there too."

Hello all,

That time again! Sorry folks, another review not from my Challenge 2020 (I promise, I am in the process of reading a book from there but it is a chonk and is going to take me a little while)! Luckily there are other shorter books that I can read and review in the mean time. Like this book I’m about to review for you now…

The Corporate Menagerie was sent to be by a publisher on behalf of the author (Tom Brown) in exchange for a review.

This book isn’t what you’d expect in many different ways! For starters, it’s full of glorious poems. The poems each have their own individual illustration in full and beautiful colour. I give it 5 stars!

“Of course, it’s important that the work gets done, but results always get better when people have fun.”

The book is a study on human behaviour and relationships…but with a twist. Tom Brown has used animals, birds and insects as well as the odd dinosaur here and there to portray the wide range of human characteristics…all of whom have been inspired by people Tom has met throughout his life.

“Old habits die hard, new tricks are resisted, she’s not for change no matter how it’s twisted.”

We meet characters such as Ali Gator the Intimidating Alligator, Gertrude and Gilbert the Forgotten and Forlorn Goldfish, Howard the Compulsive Controlling Hawk and Ronnie the Rhino who is a Gentle Giant. These are just a few of the many different animals and characters that we meet!

This book is beautiful and educational. I can definitely see characters in these books in people I have met in my life as well as seeing myself in them too. This book is perfect for EVERYONE. From Teachers to Parents to Managers and Team Leaders.

“Now this is a tale that is often revealed in workplaces throughout the land.”

This is perfect for learning but also enjoyable to read. As you may have noticed, I haven’t included many quotes like I normally would but there’s a reason for it. I don’t want to ruin the book for you all! Each poem is perfectly written and illustrated!

The message at the end of the book sums it up for me:

“…it’s never too late to change.”

The Corporate Menagerie is released on 20th January. You can buy it from Tom’s online store – https://tombrown.online/shop/

Until next time,
