“We lose ourselves in books, we find ourselves there too."

“I’ll look back on this and smile because it was life and I decided to live it.”

HAPPY NEW YEAR EVERYONE! I hope you are all staying safe and feeling hopeful for the year ahead.

But to begin with…let’s look back on the year that was 2020…in a bookish way!

I read 28 books out the 32 I had aimed to read – 88%! I have never achieved my reading goal but this was the closest year yet so fingers crossed that 2021 is my year! 11,121 pages were read last year, each one taking me on new adventures and full of new stories.

Out of all the books I read the shortest was Abracadaver with 220 pages, the longest was Dante’s Divine Comedy with 798 pages.
So now for confession time – as you all know, for 2020 I joined the Challenge 2020. I have failed that challenge, I didn’t manage to read all the books and I have 6 books left to read. But never fear, they won’t stay on my TBR list for long! I am planning on completing the challenge and these 6 remaining books will be my first reads of 2021 so stay tuned for those reviews.

Looking forward – as I didn’t complete the challenge set last year, I won’t be setting myself a challenge other than my yearly goodreads challenge. This year I have set myself 25 books to read! Next year I am hoping to set a challenge for myself and other readers so pay attention!

“Books are the quietest and most constant of friends; they are the most accessible and wisest of councillors, and the most patient of teachers.”

As many of you can see from my picture for this post, I have a book planner! It’s been created by Little Inklings Design. These gorgeous books are released every year and I completely adore them and treat myself to them every year. Inside are book trackers so you can write every book you’ve read and rate them, you can write book reviews in there, there are fun little games to aim for such as reading a book with a different colour cover e.g. a red cover or a blue cover. There also super cute colouring pages and a diary too. Check it out on her website! There’s also lots of stickers, novel companions (a handy little guide for every book) and book review books to write solely reviews in there! I honestly think that they are a must haves for any book blogger!

So what else did I achieve in 2020? Well I ran over 400km in 2020, I did a heck of a lot of baking and I saw a student I was training qualify and it was honestly my proudest moment yet!

What next for 2021? Well hopefully lots more books! I’m still running so let’s see how much I can do this year! I’ll always be baking so that will continue as will the cross stitch! I also know that 2021 won’t be easy for many. With the new strains of Coronavirus spreading like wildfire in the UK, I don’t think we will be going back to a normal life anytime soon. I know a lot of people will struggle this year, I know I did at varying points of the year and I don’t doubt that I will struggle again this year. But I will do my best to be positive and to bring joy and happiness to you all!

Stay safe everyone this year and stay positive! I am with you every step of the way and I am sending you all virtual hugs!

Until next time,

D x
